Captain Flip
Captain Flip is a quick tile-placement game where you recruit a pirate crew by flipping tiles and testing your memory. Designed by Remo Conzadori and published in 2024, it plays in about 20 minutes with 2 to 5 players aged 8 and up.
Each turn, you flip character tiles to add pirates to your grid, hoping to remember what's hidden beneath and avoid unwanted crew members. Push your luck too far and you might fill your ship with the wrong buccaneers. Multiple maps and end-game bonuses encourage different strategies, while advantage tokens let you manipulate the board to your favour.
The accessible weight (around 1.2 on BGG) makes Captain Flip easy to teach but still rewarding for experienced players who enjoy spatial puzzles and calculated risks. With a BGG rating of 7.2, it's earned solid marks for its blend of memory, grid coverage, and push-your-luck tension.
Jonathan Aucomte's artwork brings the pirate theme to life without overwhelming the gameplay. If you want a fast, tactical game that fits neatly between lighter family fare and heavier strategy titles, Captain Flip delivers.
